New Mexico, Land of Enchantment

New Mexico is a state of economic, geographic and ethnic diversity.  The home of 22 Native American tribes and 19 pueblos, it is also the base of two of the country's three national weapons laboratories.  New Mexico's geography includes high desert and plains as well as the southern end of the Rocky Mountains.


  • The population is expected to increase an estimated 40% within the next 25 years.  In 2005, an estimated 1.92 million people were living in the state, with the fastest growth in the southern region.
  • A technology corridor runs through the mid-section of the state, from the Santa Teresa/Las Cruces area in the south to Los Alamos in the North.  Institutions along the corridor include Sandia National Laboratories, Intel, White Sands Missile Range, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and many others.
